What makes our Group tick?

Our Group consists of 3 sides:

There are the leaders who are face-to-face with the Young people, the Trustees and the Ops Group

Face to Face

There are different sections in scouting:

  • Squirrels for children 4-6 years
  • Beavers for children 6-8 years old
  • Cubs for children 8-10.5 years old
  • Scouts for children 10.5-14 years old
  • Explorers for young people aged 14-18
  • There is also District-led provision for Network Scouting for Young Adults aged 18-25.

For more information about each section, follow the specific links in the menus.

Each section is made up of a team of volunteers. We call volunteers Team Members. Each section has a Team Leader who acts as a point of contact. Due to the size of our Group, we also have Assistant Group Lead Volunteers that support the Group lead Volunteer.

Trustee Board

The Trustee Board oversees governance and works in accordance with Scouting Regulation and the Charities Act.  Trustee Board meetings occur once every three months.

The Trustee Board is responsible for:

  • Administration and disbursement of the Groups Finances
  • Insurance of persons, property and equipment
  • Legal and administrative policies and their implementation, including Charity governance and data protection legislation
  • Annual General Meetings

Operations Board

Separate to the trustees, we have the Operations Board. They look at:

  • Recruitment
  • Projects
  • Equipment
  • Maintenance
  • Membership
  • Fundraising
  • Lettings

We are always on the lookout for more volunteers. Whether you enjoy working with young people, or you have administrative skills, please get in touch!
